The Demon King Trailer

I just got this in an e-mail. My brother read the book and loved it and as soon as I can I will too. But anyways here it is....

Candor - Pam Bachorz

Summary - In the model community of Candor, Florida, every teen wants to be like Oscar Banks. The son of the town’s founder, Oscar earns straight As, is student-body president, and is in demand for every club and cause.
But Oscar has a secret. He knows that parents bring their teens to Candor to make them respectful, compliant–perfect–through subliminal Messages that carefully correct and control their behavior. And Oscar’s built a business sabotaging his father’s scheme with Messages of his own, getting his clients out before they’re turned. After all, who would ever suspect the perfect Oscar Banks?
Then he meets Nia, the girl he can’t stand to see changed. Saving Nia means losing her forever. Keeping her in Candor, Oscar risks exposure . . . and more.

Review - This book was so unique! Im not gonna lie, it took me a little while to get into it but once I did I didn't want to put it down! There were certain things that I thought could have been done better, but overall it was good.
I loved Oscar and Nia's characters. I loved their bond and where it took them. The one thing I didn't like so much was how fast the two fell in love. I felt like one minute they just met and the next they're in love. But I did love the adventures that they took together. I loved all the characters of the story really, but those two were my favorites. Even though everyone was supposed to be the same I felt like they were all still unique in their own ways.
The ending was a shocker to me. It wasn't one that made my jaw dropped but I can say that I never saw that coming. I didn't want it to stop where it did. If Pam ever decided to do a sequel to this I would definitely read it! I would like to know how everything ends up between all the characters, especially to Oscar!!
This is a book that I would recommend others to read. I have read some review where people have said that they would even recommend it to a guy, but in my opinion I couldn't see many reading it. Even though the story is told from a guy's point of view, I felt like it was aimed more towards girls.
This was a great debut novel from Pam Bachorz!

What’s the saddest book you’ve read recently?

(Is any body getting bored with this series of “recent” questions? Because I’m having fun!)

The saddest book that I have read recently would probably have to be rumors by Anna Godbersen. At the very end all the things that happen made me want to cry. It was so devastating! I usually try to stay away from sad stories because I dont like to cry while reading, but sometimes I do. Depending on how good the book is.

The Demon King - Cinda Williams Chima

This is a review of an upcoming book that my brother read. I requested the book for him because he loved her other books and she was so nice and sent over a copy for his birthday. Also I found out that they share the same birthday! What a coincidence is that?!? Anyways here is what he thought of the book. I plan on reading it too but I have a huge pile to read right now...

Summary - Times are hard in the mountain city of Fellsmarch. Reformed thief Han Alister will do almost anything to eke out a living for himself, his mother, and his sister Mari. Ironically, the only thing of value he has is something he can't sell. For as long as Han can remember, he's worn thick silver cuffs engraved with runes. They're clearly magicked-as he grows, they grow, and he's never been able to get them off.

While out hunting one day, Han and his Clan friend, Dancer catch three young wizards setting fire to the sacred mountain of Hanalea. After a confrontation, Han takes an amulet from Micah Bayar, son of the High Wizard, to ensure the boy won't use it against them. Han soon learns that the amulet has an evil history-it once belonged to the Demon King, the wizard who nearly destroyed the world a millennium ago. With a magical piece that powerful at stake, Han knows that the Bayars will stop at nothing to get it back.

Meanwhile, Raisa ana'Helena, Princess Heir of the Fells, has her own battles to fight. She's just returned to court after three years of relative freedom with her father's family at Demonai camp - riding, hunting, and working the famous Clan markets. Although Raisa will become eligible for marriage after her sixteenth name-day, she isn't looking forward to trading in her common sense and new skills for etiquette tutors and stuffy parties.

Raisa wants to be more than an ornament in a glittering cage. She aspires to be like Hanalea-the legendary warrior queen who killed the Demon King and saved the world. But it seems like her mother has other plans for her--plans that include a suitor who goes against everything the Queendom stands for.

The Seven Realms will tremble when the lives of Han and Raisa collide in this stunning new page-turner from bestselling author Cinda Williams Chima.

Review - When I first received this book I was very excited to read it, after completing the previous series by Cinda. To my surprise, at the beginning of the book it was very difficult to get into, usually taking usually only a day to get into it took me five. The characters are very well described and relatable in some ways. The story never strayed from its intended path as some stories do. About half way through the book it became hard to do anything but read and discover what was going to happen next. The story started slowly but once it picked up it remained fast paced through out the remainder of the book, always keeping you guessing what was going to happen next. As the story came to its temporary close there was a very unexpected twist in which grabs your attention and keeps you wondering. It was very well written and a pleasure to read. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Envy - Anna Godbersen

Summary - Jealous whispers. Old rivalries. New betrayals.

Two months after Elizabeth Holland's dramatic homecoming, Manhattan eagerly awaits her return to the pinnacle of society. However, when she refuses to rejoin her sister Diana's side, those watching New York's favorite family begin to whisper that all is not as it seems behind the stately doors of No. 17 Gramercy Park.

In this thrilling installment of Anna Godbersen's bestselling Luxe series, Manhattan's most envied residents appear to have everything they desire: Wealth. Beauty. Happiness. But sometimes the most practiced smiles hide the most scandalous secrets. . . .

Review - I have to admit that I find it more difficult to review books in a series. I always wanna talk about what happened and find it difficult without giving away spoilers. So I will try to do my best. I thought that Envy was just as amazing as the other two. I now find though, that the first was obviously the starting off point, or the introduction to everything that was going on. The second was where the drama of the story started to take off. And now with the third, it continues but gets "thicker" so to speak. Everything that has been going on just got twenty times worse. Everything that happened in this book I never saw coming and I think that is why I liked this one the best. I love the turn that the characters have taken and I am curious to see what path they take in Splendor. I think my biggest shock is what Diana does at the end of this one. I won't give it away for those of you who haven't read it, but for those of you who have, you know what I am talking about. If you read the first one or two and weren't sure whether or not you should read this one.... well I am here to tell you that you absolutely should!!! I can't wait to find out what happens next!

Michelle Moran Contest!!!!

This is my first contest and I am so excited to be hosting it. This contest is going to be for a signed copy of The Heretic Queen, which will is paperback, and a copy of Cleopatra's Daughter, which will be a hardcover. And also to one lucky winner there will be a special prize. This prize may go to a winner of one of the books or it may go to a winner all on its own. Here are the books.

In ancient Egypt, a forgotten princess must overcome her family’s past, and remake history.

The winds of change are blowing through Thebes. A devastating palace fire has killed the 18th dynasty’s royal family—all with the exception of Nefertari, niece of the reviled former queen Nefertiti. The girl’s deceased family has been branded as heretical, and no one in Egypt will speak their names. A relic of a previous reign, Nefertari is pushed aside, an unimportant princess left to run wild in the palace. But all of this changes when she is taken under the wing of pharaoh’s aunt, and brought to the Temple of Hathor where she is educated in a manner befitting a future queen.

Soon Nefertari catches the eye of the crown prince, and despite her family’s history, they fall in love and wish to marry. Yet all of Egypt opposes this union between the rising star of a new dynasty and the fading star of an old, heretical one. While political adversity sets the country on edge, Nefertari becomes the wife of Ramesses the Great. Destined to be the most powerful pharaoh in Egypt, he is also the man who must confront the most famous exodus in history.

The marriage of Marc Antony and Cleopatra is one of the greatest love stories of all time, a tale of unbridled passion with earth-shaking political consequences. Feared and hunted by the powers in Rome, the lovers choose to die by their own hands as the triumphant armies of Antony’s vengeful rival, Octavian, sweep into Egypt. Their three orphaned children are taken in chains to Rome, but only two—the ten-year-old twins Selene and Alexander—survive the journey. Delivered to the household of Octavian’s sister, the siblings cling to each other and to the hope that they will return one day to their rightful place on the throne of Egypt. As they come of age, they are buffeted by the personal ambitions of Octavian’s family and court, by the ever-present threat of slave rebellion, and by the longings and desires deep within their own hearts.

The fateful tale of Selene and Alexander is brought brilliantly to life in Cleopatra’s Daughter. Recounted in Selene’s youthful and engaging voice, it introduces a compelling cast of historical characters:

Octavia: the emperor Octavian’s kind and compassionate sister, abandoned by Marc Antony for Cleopatra
Livia: Octavian’s bitter and jealous wife
Marcellus: Octavian’s handsome, flirtatious nephew and heir-apparent
Tiberius: Livia’s sardonic son and Marcellus’s great rival for power
Juba: Octavian’s ever-watchful aide, whose honored position at court has far-reaching effects on the lives of the young Egyptian royals

Selene’s narrative is animated by the concerns of a young girl in any time and place —the possibility of finding love, the pull of friendship and family, and the pursuit of her unique interests and talents. While coping with the loss of both her family and her ancestral kingdom, Selene must find a path around the dangers of a foreign land. Her accounts of life in Rome are filled with historical details that vividly capture both the glories and horrors of the time. She dines with the empire’s most illustrious poets and politicians, witnesses the creation of the Pantheon, and navigates the colorful, crowded marketplaces of the city where Roman-style justice is meted out with merciless authority.

Based on meticulous research, Cleopatra’s Daughter is a fascinating portrait of Imperial Rome and of the people and events of this glorious and tumultuous period in human history. Emerging from the shadows of history, Selene, a young woman of irresistible charm and preternatural intelligence, will capture your heart.

BBAW Setting Goals

So today, we are supposed to talk about what we like best about our blog and where we would like to be a year from now, in 50 words or less. So lets see if I can do this.

Right now, what I like about my blog is probably the different Meme's that I participate in. It lets me get more involved with the other blogger and to see what they are doing.

Where I would like to see myself in a year... Well I would like to be doing more interviews and guest blogs with authors, and for my blog to be more known. I have only been blogging for a few months and know that it takes time, but there are times I wish I could be reading books that everyone else is that they get from publicists and what not. Do not get me wrong Im not complaining, that is just where I would like to be in a year. :)

What's the most enjoyable, most fun, most just-darn-entertaining book you've read recently? (Mind you, this doesn't necessarily mean funny, since we covered that already. Just ... GOOD.)

I think one of the most entertaining books that I have read lately is Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway. This book was one that I just couldnt entirely get into but that doesn't mean that it wasn't good. I dont know how many times I would smile at something I read or would bust out laughing at something the main character said. She was hilarious and I loved reading it. There were times it didnt have my full attention but it was a very entertaining book! You can find my review for it here.

BBAW Thursday

Well today we are supposed to blog about a book we have read only because we discovered it on another blog. Well I realize I have been talking about this book an awful lot lately but, mine would probably have to be The Summoning. I didnt actually see this one. I saw everyone talking about The Awakening and looked up the first one and it caught my interest. Once I finished it though, well lets just say I was running around the house screaming! Literally! I couldn't believe that it was over and I want to read the next one so, so bad but the only problem is that I can't buy it right now and I haven't found it at my library. I should check more though because my library has like 7 to 9 branches, so one of them is bound to have it :)

Waiting on Wednesday (8)

I feel like an idiot!!! I didnt realize it when I made this post but this book came out today LAST year! lol anyways I would still like to read it. Well I guess there is a kind of theme to my WOW posts because again this week it is another Egyptian book :) This one actually comes out today! But I cant wait to read it!

The Heretic Queen by Michelle Moran.

BBAW Reading Meme

So we were asked to answer these in as few words as possible if we are answering all of them so I will do my best, and here I go......

Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack?
That all depends sometimes I do and others I dont. My favorite are cosmic brownies :)
Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you? Horrify!! I couldn't stand even writing my name in them!
How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears?
Bookmark! I don't care if I don't have one available, I will tear off a scrap piece of paper or use a sticky, but NEVER DOG-EAR!
Laying the book flat open?
Im guessing this means to lay the pages down, but I only do that if I am coming right back, never for long periods of time!
Fiction, Non-fiction, or both?
That depends, usually fiction, but if its about a good historical topic that catches my interest, I will read it.

Hard copy or audiobooks?
Hard Copy, I won't remember the story other wise. Im more of a visual person.

Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you able to put a book down at any point?
The end of the chapter if I can make it that far. If I am way too tired to keep going then I'll put it down.

If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away?
Not usually, I try to use context clues and if that still doesn't work and its bugging me later I'll go look it up.

What are you currently reading?
Hunted - P.C. & Kristin Cast

What is the last book you bought?
Wake & Fade by Lisa McMann. Just got them a few days ago.
Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can you read more than one at a time?
I can read more than one at a time, because my mind will pick back up on the story, but I prefer to do just one.

Do you have a favorite time of day and/or place to read?
Anytime really, but I do most of my reading before I go to bed or if I'm in the car with my parents.
Do you prefer series books or stand alone books?
Most of the time I like series books but every once in a while I find a good stand alone.

Is there a specific book or author that you find yourself recommending over and over?
Before I really, really got into it it would have been Stephenie Meyer or Lemony Snicket but now its, P.C. & Kristin Cast, Kelley Armstrong, Anna Godbersen, and so many more.

How do you organize your books? (By genre, title, author’s last name, etc.?)
My books are very random but organized at the same time. I do not own many books right now, but the ones I have out look like this....
I also have another pile that is library books that I am reading and am going to review.
I try to keep the series' together, but from Peace, Love, and Baby ducks over to the right are the books that I plan on reading and reviewing. To the left, stopping at Breaking Dawn, are the books I own that I just want to read. I have read the Twilight books, the Little Women books(there are two one is small), the little white book, and part of the Lemony Snicket book. Ok Im starting to ramble. So there are the answers to my questions.

BBAW Interview Swap with Jules from Jules' Book Reviews

So today is the day that we do the interview swaps and my blogger that I got to interview was Jules from Jules' Book Reviews, and here is what she had to say...

1. What made you decide to start blogging and how long have you been doing it?

I started book blogging in August 2008 (August 5th to be exact). But I had other blogs before that for about three or four years, but they always fell through. My Book blog is the first blog I’ve had that I’ve kept to it. I started book blogging because I’m very I love to read, I love to talk about what I read and opinionated about what I read, and I wanted to share that love to others, so I jumped into the world of book blogging.

2. What are some of your favorite authors and is there a specific genre you prefer?

Some of my favourite authors are; Alexander Dumas, Margaret Atwood, Robert Jordan, J.R.R. Tolkien, Irène Némirvosky, Marian Keyes, Wilkie Collins, Anne Michaels, Audrey Niefffener, Victor Hugo, Ian Irving, and J.K. Rowling to name some.

My favourite genres; I like a fantasy mainly Epic/High fantasy, classics, contemporary literature or modern literature is also one I focus on a lot. And as of late I’m trying to focus on literature from different cultures.

3. What is the best book that you have read recently?

There are two books, that I’ve read recently that were absolutely fantastic, the are; Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See, and The Fifth Life of the Cat Woman by Kathleen Dexter.

4. What is the most challenging thing about blogging to you? What is the most exciting?

I wouldn’t say it is a challenging thing, but one I always have “issues” with, and that’s keeping my feeds under control, and commenting on other bloggers reviews and posts on their blogs. I read them, I save the ones I really want to make comments on, and then real life gets in the way.

My favourite part/most exciting is sharing my views on the books I read to others.

5. What are a couple books in your "To be Read" pile your most excited to get to? why?

I currently have 150 books sitting on my shelves, which are part of my “To be Read” pile (I like my books to be organized, so all my books sit on the shelves, so I can keep track of them, and keep them in good condition). And I’m looking forward to reading all of them, but here are a handful of them;

Water for Elephants by Sarah Gruen - I sat in on a book club, while doing a field placement, and though the story sounding interesting, complex and different then what I usually read.

The Vicomte de Braelonne by Alexander Dumas - I love the Three Musketeers, I can’t wait to see what happens in the next chapter of their story and Dumas is one of my favourite authors.

The Hunchback of Notre-Dame by Victor Hugo - I loved the author’s style in Les Miserables and looking forward to diving back into is amazing story telling.

The Piano Man’s Daughter by Timothy Finley, The French Lieutenants Woman by John Fowles, The Posionwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver all three have been highly recommended to be by friends who think theses books are very close to my reading taste, and I look forward to find out if they are right.

6. I noticed on your blog that you are doing many challenges. What are your favorite two and why?

One of my favourite challenges is the “A - Z Challenge” I like it because for some, like finding books where the author’s last names starts with each letter of the alphabet, can sometimes be hard, and it almost forces you to go out and beyond what your normal comfort zone may be.

The Second would be the support your local library challenge. I’m a library technician, so I loved the idea of a challenge that sent people out into their community and to use their library. Especially nowadays where libraries are threatened by the growing technological devices such as ereaders, it’s always nice to see people using the library.

Jules aka "Bookworm Jules"

That was a great interview and just want to say thanks to Jules for putting up with me, and my pestering about the questions. It was nice to get the perspective of another reader. So everyone should go on over and check out her blog and my interview with her. :)

Start of BBAW

Oh, well today we are supposed to thank and spotlight our favorite blogs that didn't make the shortlists for voting... Well this is gonna be a tough one but I will try.
There are so many blogs that I follow, over 100, so its kinda hard to just pick some of them that I would consider my favorites. There are some that I enjoy reading more than others but that doesn't mean that I don't like the others. If I had to choose though, these would be the ones that I would thank for everything that they do and wish would have mad it on the the shortlists :)

The first one would be Khy over at The Frenetic Reader. I love reading her reviews, and especially watching her vlogs, there are almost always hilarious. I love just about everything about her blog its great!

Another of my favorites is Hope from Hope's Bookshelf. She is another that I love to read. Her reviews are always great, and she is super nice! Its hard to pick just certain things about these blogs that I love. Its usually the whole thing.

Next on my list is Kelsey from Just Blinded Book Reviews. (I hope I spelt her name right!) I like reading her reviews, obviously, and all of the different things that she does. Like just recently she went to the Decatur Book Festival, with a bunch of other bloggers that live in her area, and they did updates and things from that, which is always cool to see.

Im trying not to ramble too much so on to the next blogger.....

And that next blogger is Vania from Reverie Book Reviews. She is one of the other bloggers that went to the Decatur Book Festival and did updates and took lovely pictures. She always has some good stuff on her blog whether it be reviews, or giveaways, or funny videos that she does at Barnes and Noble, its always great.

Wow, there are so many more on my list, that Im not sure what to say about all of them.

Sholanda over at Sholanda's Blog.

Sharon at Sharon loves Books and Cats.

Diana over at Stop, Drop, and Read!

And last but not least Cindy over at Princess Bookie.

I was trying to keep this as short as possible so if you are interested in any of the blogs that I have listed above, go check them out! They are all amazing! And as I already mentioned, these are not the only ones that I like to read, these were just the ones I read and enjoy the most.

In my Mailbox (14)

Ok, so I am actually typing this up on Thursday because I am at the library where my mom lives and I have the time to post it. When I got here I thought that I was gonna fall over when i walked to the teen section of the library. There were so many books that I have been wanting to read and guess what.... They had them!! so here is what i got. Today I can't post the descriptions so I will link the titles to Amazon. They have the paste option blocked or turned off or something so I will link them.

The first one I saw was Being Nikki, which I have been waiting for since I finished Airhead! I haven't been able to buy it, but now I can read it and Im so stoked, and the more I looked along the shelves the more I found and kept grabbing, after I told myself no more from the library until I can read the ones I own! But tell me you could not pass those up! Anyways I gotta go but let me know what you thought of my books.

Waiting on Wednesday (7)

This one is just around the corner but I want to read it so bad! I love everything Egyptian so this definitely strikes my interest!

The Sphinx's Princes - Esther Friesner

Nefertiti was far more than just a pretty face.

Nefertiti may be the dutiful daughter of a commoner, but her inquisitive mind often gets her into situations that are far from ordinary, like receiving secret lessons from a scribe. And she’s the kind of girl who acts first, and apologizes later whenever she witnesses injustice or cruelty. But she is also extraordinarily beautiful. And news of her striking beauty and impulsive behavior attracts the attention of her aunt, the manipulative Queen Tiye, who sees Nefertiti as an ideal pawn in her desire for power. Even though Nefertiti is taken from her beloved family and forced into a life filled with courtly intrigue and danger, her spirit and mind will not rest. She continues to challenge herself and the boundaries of ancient Egyptian society.

Esther Friesner offers readers another fresh new look at an iconic figure—blending historical fiction and mythology in a thrilling concoction.

Im leaving today :(

Ok guys, so today is the day that I am leaving for two weeks and will not be able to check my blog as much. I will be monitoring my e-mail every few days though. If anyone needs to get a hold of me you can reach me at jmoose09@gmail.com Other than that, I have scheduled most of my Meme's for the next two weeks but there will be no reviews until I get back.

"When I got to the dorm I saw that "sanitized" meant that all the pictures had been taken off
the walls and the beds stacked up like they weren't in use. Product had been cleared from the bathrooms, which made them seem almost spacious."

A past life holds the key to breaking his rapidly spreading influence, but what if this past life shows Zoey secrets she doesn't want to hear and truths she can't face?

On the run and holed up in Tulsa's Prohibition-era tunnels, Zoey and her gang must discover a way to deal with something that might bring them all down. Meanwhile, Zoey has a few other little problems. The red fledglings have cleaned up well--they've even managed to make the dark, creepy tunnels feel more like home--but are they really as friendly as they seem? On the boyfriend front, Zoey has a chance to make things right with super-hot ex-, Eric, but she can't stop thinking about Stark, the archer who died in her arms after one unforgettable night, and she is driven to try to save him from Neferet's sinister influence at all costs. Will anyone believe the power evil has to hide among us?

*SPOIL ALERT* IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE SERIES DO NOT READ THERE MAY BE SPOILERS!!!

My thoughts - Im not going to review this one like I normally would. Its harder for me to talk about the books in this series by themselves without mentioning things from the others. I am going to do my best not to include any spoilers but just in case there is a spoiler alert. Ok so I guess I will start with the things that I didn't like so much about the book. In this one I felt like the book went by so fast! Which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it kinda bugged me. Ok, now on to what I really thought about the book, I love where the Cast's have decided to go with the characters and I am curious to see if they keep them on the track. Also Zoey's love triangle?!? When is it ever going to end? If you have read this book I would really like to know who you would like her to end up with! I know who I want but don't wanna say just yet. And Aphrodite's imprint, I wonder who will break that one. And the secrets that Stevie Rae is hiding, there are so many unanswered questions in this book, but I guess that is why I am so excited to get Tempted when it comes out! I have to know what is going to happen and hopefully most of these questions will be answered. Well I'll stop rambling now, and I would love it if you have read the book to leave comments and let me know what you thought and whether you agree :)

Zombie Walk??

I had found some pictures floating around the internet about a zombie walk. I dont know all of the details, but apparently it is to raise money for the American Cancer Society, which I think is great!! There is even a website, with forums where you can talk about it. If I counted correctly there are 26 states that do this. Maybe even more, im not too sure. They are also held in other countries. Im not sure if its for the same reason, but that is just crazy.

This one is from a Zombie Walk in London!

Also found a link to a bunch of pictures from a walk in Vancouver.

Now the question is, Would you participate in a Zombie walk if it was for a good cause?
Or would you walk in one just to dress up like a Zombie?

Check out this amazing contest!

Lauren at Laurens Crammed bookshelf is holding a contest for the following awesome books so head on over and check it out!! I am so excited about these....

ZOMBIE BOOKS!!!

Ok so, (has anyone noticed I start alot of my posts out that way?? I have. tee hee) recently, if you all have noticed, there have been a lot of books coming out that are about zombies. That makes me so excited because I do like my fairy tale love stories, at the same time i like horror and suspense and just supernatural things. So today I thought I would make a post about the new zombie books that I want to read, and after their description I will tell you all why.

1. Generation Dead - Daniel Waters

Phoebe Kendall is just your typical Goth girl with a crush. He's strong and silent.and dead. All over the country, a strange phenomenon is occurring. Some teenagers who die aren't staying dead. But when they come back to life, they are no longer the same. Feared and misunderstood, they are doing their best to blend into a society that doesn't want them. The administration at Oakvale High attempts to be more welcoming of the "differently biotic." But the students don't want to take classes or eat in the cafeteria next to someone who isn't breathing. And there are no laws that exist to protect the "living impaired" from the people who want them to disappear-for good. When Phoebe falls for Tommy Williams, the leader of the dead kids, no one can believe it; not her best friend, Margi, and especially not her neighbor, Adam, the star of the football team. Adam has feelings for Phoebe that run much deeper than just friendship; he would do anything for her. But what if protecting Tommy is the one thing that would make her happy?

Reasons - Ok, first of all, look at the cover and tell me it doesn't say read me!! Also I love the fact that it is happening all over and they are trying to blend in, not take over and eat everyone. Also a normal girl falling for Tommy, leader of the dead kids, that is just awesome. From what I can tell the story is somewhat original and I love it!

2. Kiss of Life - Daniel Waters

The phenomenon that's been sweeping the country seems to be here to stay. Not only are the teenagers who have come back from their graves still here, but newlydeads are being unearthed all the time. While scientists look for answers and politicians take their stands, the undead population of Oakville have banded together in a group they're calling the Sons of Romero, hoping to find solidarity in segregation. Phoebe Kendall may be alive, but she feels just as lost and alone as her dead friends. Just when she reconciled herself to having feelings for a zombie -- her Homecoming date Tommy Williams -- her friend Adam is murdered taking a bullet that was meant for her. Things get even more confusing when Adam comes back from the grave. Now she has romantic interest in two dead boys; one who saved her life, and one she can't seem to live without.

Reasons - Again, just look at the cover, it calls to me! And whether I like the first one or not Im going to read the second, because Im gonna want to know what happens!

3. Never Slow Dance with a Zombie - E. Van Lowe

Romy and Michelle's Hight School Reunion
meets Night of the Living Dead in this laugh-out-loud debut YA novel by Emmy Award-nominated TV writer E. Van Lowe

Principal Taft's 3 Simple Rules for Surviving a Zombie Uprising:

Rule #1: While in the halls, walk slowly and wear a vacant expression on your face. Zombies won't attack other zombies.

Rule #2: Never travel alone. Move in packs. Follow the crowd. Zombies detest blatant displays of individuality.

Rule #3: If a zombie should attack, do not run. Instead, throw raw steak at to him. Zombies love raw meat. This display of kindness will go a long way.

On the night of her middle school graduation, Margot Jean Johnson wrote a high school manifesto detailing her goals for what she was sure would be a most excellent high school career. She and her best friend, Sybil, would be popular and, most important, have boyfriends. Three years later, they haven't accomplished a thing!

Then Margot and Sybil arrive at school one day to find that most of the student body has been turned into flesh-eating zombies. When kooky Principal Taft asks the girls to coexist with the zombies until the end of the semester, they realize that this is the perfect opportunity to live out their high school dreams. All they have to do is stay alive....

Reasons - Well first of all I loved Romy and Michelle's High School reunion, so... But other than that it just sounds kinda quirky. Margot and Sybil have to coexist with zombies and try to fulfill their goals of being popular and having boyfriends! I dont know about you but I dont think I could do that! I really want to see how this one plays out!

4. Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies - Jane Austen & Seth Grahame - Smith
"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains." So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton-and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she's soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers-and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield as Elizabeth wages war against hordes of flesh-eating undead. Can she vanquish the spawn of Satan? And overcome the social prejudices of the class-conscious landed gentry? Complete with romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, and thousands of rotting corpses, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies transforms a masterpiece of world literature into something you'd actually want to read.

Reasons - Again, I love the cover on this one! Me and my mom were in Barnes & Noble and I saw it and showed it to her, lets just say she didn't like it so much. Teehee! Anyways, when I read what it was about I almost died! I love Pride & Prejudice and when I imagine Elizabeth fighting off zombies and trying to be the perfect woman that everyone wants, I die! I think that it is going to be amazing and I can't wait to read it!

5. You are so undead to me - Stacey Jay

Fifteen-year-old Megan Berry is a Zombie Settler by birth, which means she's part-time shrink to a bunch of dead people with a whole lot of issues.

All Megan wants is to be normal—and go to homecoming, of course. Unfortunately, it's a little difficult when your dates keep getting interrupted by a bunch of slobbering Undead.

Things are about to get even more complicated for Megan. Someone in school is using black magic to turn average, angsty Undead into flesh-eating Zombies, and it's looking like homecoming will turn out to be a very different kind of party—the bloody kind.

Megan must stop the Zombie apocalypse descending on Carol, Arkansas. Her life—and more importantly, homecoming—depends on it.

Reasons - The cover to me is quite interesting, but I read what it was about it pulled me in. A fifteen year old shrink to undead and someone making them flesh eating zombies instead! I want to know why! I want to know what happens and the things that she has to do to keep all of this from happening!

6. Zombie Queen of Newbury High - Ashley Ashby

Quiet, unpopular, non-cheerleading Mia is blissfully happy. She is dating super hot football god Rob, and he actually likes her and asked her to prom! Enter Samantha—cheerleading goddess and miss popularity— who starts making a move for Rob. With prom in a few days, Mia needs to act fast. So she turns to her best friend, Candice, and decides to do a love spell on Rob. Unfortunately, she ends up inflicting a zombie virus onto her whole class, making herself their leader! At first she is flattered that everyone is treating her like a queen. But then zombie hunter hottie Chase explains they are actually fattening her up, because in a few days, Mia will be the first course in their new diet. She's sure she and Chase can figure something out, but she suggests that no one wear white to prom, because things could get very messy.

Reasons - Again, so unique! How many other stories have you heard of that sound like this one?? I love everything about it, the spell gone wrong, the zombie hunter, everything! Im not too sure what the exact thing is that pulls me in but something does!

Booking through Thursday (2)

btt button

What’s the biggest book you’ve read recently?

(Feel free to think “big” as size, or as popularity, or in any other way you care to interpret.)

Hmm... This is kind of a tough one. As far as pages I would have to say The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong. It was 390 pages. But that was only in the last month. In July I read The Luxe and rumors which were both over 400 pages. The biggest I have ever read was Breaking Dawn and it was over 700 if im not mistaken.

Waiting on Wednesday (6)

Waiting on Wednesday was started by Jill over at Breaking the Spine. So head on over and check it out, but first see what I am waiting on this week.

This week, one book that I am really looking forward to reading is, Secret Society by Tom Dolby

Summary -

Secrets, secrets are no fun. Secrets, secrets hurt someone. . . .

An eccentric new girl. A brooding socialite. The scion of one of New York's wealthiest families. A promising filmmaker. As students at the exclusive Chadwick School, Phoebe, Lauren, Nick, and Patch already live in a world most teenagers only dream about.

They didn't ask to be Society members. But when three of them receive a mysterious text message promising success and fame beyond belief, they say yes to everything—even to the harrowing initiation ceremony in a gritty warehouse downtown and to the ankh-shaped tattoo they're forced to get on the nape of their necks. Once they're part of the Society, things begin falling into place for them. Week after week, their ambitions are fulfilled. It's all perfect—until a body is found in Central Park with no distinguishing marks except for an ankh-shaped tattoo.

Tom Dolby makes his teen fiction debut with this riveting novel about a dangerous society so secret that once you get in, you can never get out.

Will Audrey ever be able to have a normal life again? Get ready to find out, because it's time for Audrey to tell
her side of the story.

Review - Um not too sure how I felt about this one. It was a cute story, dont get me wrong. I laughed to myself and out loud so many times! Every time I did my dad would look at me and just shake his head. I thought the story was so unique though. How many people do you know break up with their boyfriend and the next thing you know their famous?? I dont know.... well anyone that that has happened to. I can say though that I could understand how she was feeling throughout the book. I wouldn't want to be followed around by the paparazzi, and have to change everything about my life. I never got too bored with this book, yes there were times, but not many. It was a very cute girly book. Im more of a fantasy person I guess you could say but this one was good too. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who asked about it. I also loved the way it ended it was amazing what she does. If you wanna know what I'm talking about, get out and get yourself a copy :)

Dawn of the Dead (2004)

This is the version of the movie that I own. If you read my review for the original, this one is NOT going to be anything like that one. I actually love this one. Everything about it. It is so much better than the original. The blood and gore is better, and doesnt look like paint, the zombies are so, so much better, and the characters are so much better! If you haven't ever watched it and don't mind blood and guts everywhere, I suggest you watch it! Im not really sure what else to say about it. It was really amazing.
